Latest progress for Halloween
I made some good progress for the Halloween display this weekend. First, I got my LED scrolling sign up and running again today. The problem I had is, I lost the cable to plug it into the computer and program it! It was still displaying messages from Christmas. I finally gave up on finding the cable. I was wasting too much effort looking for the cable, that could be spent working on other parts of the display, so I went to Radio Shack, and bought the parts needed to build a new cable. I had it finished within a half hour, and now have the sign up and running. The other project is my Halloween fireplace. This fireplace is supposed to be to a somewhat Gothic theme. I made some great progress on that. Most of the frame is done, complete with a duct tape mantel, and a trash bag interior. The next step is to buy some spray starch, and attach a section of scene setter to give it the proper stone look instead of cardboard. Then it's just a couple tweaks, and it's time to build the fire. One other note, hopefully sometime this weekend, I'll get the software package my site is using updated to the latest version. At that time, I'll install the captcha plugin, which will allow me to open up the comment system so visitors will be able to comment about my posts without having to have an account with this site.
